Dental Implants
Dental Implants are titanium screws replacing the roots of missing teeth. An implant is the best replacement for a single missing, natural tooth. Implant therapy does not require any removal of tooth structure from adjacent healthy teeth as would be required with a bridge. And unlike dentures, implants are firmly anchored to your jaw. Several implants can often replace a whole mouthful of missing teeth. The dental implant is surgically placed into the jaw bone. The bone is left to heal and fuse to the surface of the implant. This fusion usually takes several months. After the implant is fused to the jawbone, a post, called an abutment, is attached to the implant and a crown is placed on the abutment. Implants may also be used to provide stability for loose dentures.
